Hold on to your iPhones, folks! It seems like Apple might be cooking up a surprise update, potentially even before the much-anticipated iOS 26.1 arrives. A reliable source on X, known for accurately predicting Apple's software moves, has dropped a hint about a new version of the already-released iOS 26.0.1.
This leaker, who has a solid track record, posted about a new build number for iOS and iPadOS 26.0.1. The public release we've all got on our devices right now is build 23A355. But, according to this insider, Apple has a new build, 23A357, in the works.
Now, here's where things get interesting. It's not every day that Apple releases revised versions of software after it's already out in the wild. Usually, this kind of thing happens during the beta testing phase, not with the public release. So, what's the deal?
One theory is that this new software is specifically for the upcoming M5 iPad Pro. Perhaps this new build is designed to optimize the software for this new hardware. But here's where it gets controversial... Could it be that the new software won't even be for iPhones at all, and will only be available for the new iPad model? Or, will it be available for both iPhone and iPad users who haven't yet installed the original iOS 26.0.1?
Regardless, given this leaker's history of accuracy, it's worth keeping an eye out for this new 23A357 build of iOS and iPadOS 26.0.1. We'll be watching closely to see what Apple has up its sleeve.
